Winter weather doesn’t mean you have to put running on hold. Proper women’s winter running gear enables you to run no matter what the climate and weather conditions are. The key is to layer suitably with the right articles of clothing and appropriate fabrics to keep your body temperature at a healthy level.

Layering women’s winter running gear varies depending on the weather conditions you will be running in. The challenge is to be sure you aren’t under or over dressed. A rule of thumb is to dress as if it is 20 degrees warmer than it actually is outside because you’re body will warm up as you run. Do not wear heavy, bulky clothes; instead, wear thin layers of clothing made out of fabrics designed for cold weather.

The best women’s winter running gear is made from wicking fabrics. Wicking fabric is designed to wick away sweat and moisture away from your skin. This is important in cold weather because it prevents excess moisture from building up and intensifying the cold temperature which can be dangerous. Wearing several layers of wicking or breathable fabrics is essential to keep the body from overheating or getting chilled.
